Job summary

Upside is seeking a data/analytics engineer to own a set of dbt models, shape their design, and monitor them in production. You will turn ambiguous questions from Marketing into concrete, testable work and document them so others can build on your results.

You will sit near Marketing, Data, and MarTech, translating needs into scoped tasks, writing design docs, and coaching junior engineers. The role emphasizes data modeling, query optimization, and reliable data delivery.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in data or analytics engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong SQL skills and ability to optimize queries for performance.
• Experience with dbt models and data modeling concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own a scoped domain of dbt models from design to monitoring.
• Translate Marketing/Product asks into scoped work with clear tradeoffs.
• Write design docs and break work into executable tasks.
• Add monitoring/alerts to data models to catch issues early.
• Participate in on-call rotation and debugging.
• Create runbooks and diagrams to aid future work.
• Mentor engineers on the team during code reviews.
