Job summary

Upside is seeking a data/analytics engineer to own a domain of dbt models, turning marketing and product questions into concrete, testable work. You’ll collaborate with Marketing, Data, and MarTech, turning messy questions into trustworthy data products.

You’ll design, build, test, ship, and monitor models, with a focus on performance, scalability, and clear documentation. You will mentor junior teammates and take part in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in data or analytics engineering or equivalent work
• Fluent in SQL, proficient with window functions and joins, focus on query performance
• Owned dbt models in a version-controlled repo with tests and CI
• Strong Python skills for orchestration, transformations, and tests
• Able to explain modeling tradeoffs (dimensional vs single table) and justify choices
• Able to explain technical decisions to marketers and engineers in the same meeting

Responsibilities

• Own a scoped domain of dbt models from design to monitoring
• Turn marketing/product asks into scoped work and discuss tradeoffs
• Write design docs and break work into actionable pieces
• Add monitoring/alerts and ensure reliability
• Participate in support rotation and debug failures
• Produce runbooks and diagrams to aid future ownership
• Mentor engineers in code reviews and day-to-day tasks
