Job summary

Pacific Life in Newport Beach is seeking a talented Analytics Engineer to join our Analytics Engineering team. You will transform enterprise data into trusted analytics products supporting reporting, ML, data science, and AI-powered business solutions.

You’ll collaborate with business stakeholders, analytics delivery, data engineers, visualization engineers, and data scientists to translate business needs into tested, documented, and scalable analytical models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically at least 2–5 years of professional experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or related role.
• Core stack with dbt and Snowflake, including developing, testing, documenting, and maintaining analytic data models.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational and dimensional modeling, data transformation, and query optimization.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and Azure DevOps; Python for scripting; familiarity with AWS and cloud data environments.
• Ability to translate business questions into technical requirements and explain concepts clearly; interest in AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain modular SQL transformations and analytical data models using dbt and Snowflake for reporting, analysis, data science, and AI use cases.
• Partner with stakeholders to define data definitions, business rules, metrics, and semantic models; document relationships and assumptions.
• Build automated tests, validate logic, investigate discrepancies, and maintain lineage for trustworthy analytics.
• Contribute to AI and agentic solutions using Snowflake Cortex and AI agents grounded in business context.
• Apply modern development practices: Git, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD to manage changes across environments.
• Provide stakeholder enablement through demonstrations, documentation, and knowledge transfer to promote self-sufficiency.
• Troubleshoot models, improve performance, and contribute reusable patterns to the engineering playbook.
