Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc is seeking a Scientist for the Analytical Development team in Boston, MA. You will develop analytical cell lines and bioassays to support potency and characterization of biologics, translating MoA into cell line designs and assay strategies.

The role requires strong bioassay development experience, collaboration across teams, and a focus on quality and data integrity in a fast-paced environment. On-site role with competitive pay and equity opportunities.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related field with 0–3 years in biologics analytical development.
Master’s degree with 3 years of biopharma industry experience or Bachelor's with 6 years of biopharma experience.
Experience in analytical cell line development and cell-based potency/functional assays.

Responsibilities

Lead design, characterization, and lifecycle management of stable mammalian analytical cell lines for potency and functional assays.
Develop and support cell-based bioassays such as reporter gene and signaling pathway assays.
Design and interpret complex experiments; generate data packages and regulatory-ready documentation.
