Job summary

ALS Limited is seeking a detail‑oriented analytical chemist to join our laboratory team in Tucson, AZ. The role focuses on operating ICP-OES and combustion infrared instruments, developing new methods, and ensuring data quality.

You will analyze soils and fuel samples per EPA methods and document results clearly, while maintaining compliance with SOPs and QA standards. The ideal candidate has a chemistry background, strong Excel/Word skills, and the ability to learn LIMS and instrument software

Qualifications

• Knowledge of organic chemistry fundamentals.
• Strong computer skills; Excel and Word.
• Experience with or ability to learn MagICnet, LECO Cornerstone, Agilent software and LIMS.
• Organized, detail oriented with good time management.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of goals.
• Clear professional English communication.

Responsibilities

• Analyze samples using ICP-OES and Combustion IR instruments and methodologies.
• Maintain and troubleshoot instruments; develop new methods or modify procedures.
• Analyze soils and fuel samples following EPA methods and SOPs.
• Document activities and report results concisely; analyze QC samples as required.
• Identify and report quality problems to supervisor/QA; assist with routine instrument maintenance.
• Prepare related sampling supplies and documentation as needed.
