Under the general direction of the Chief, Office of Project Delivery Professional Development (PDPD), the incumbent serves as a key program lead responsible for delivering high quality statewide training, management of agency learning management system, and ensuring PDPD training and operational needs are met. The position oversees the development and review of learning contents, ensures compliance with legal and departmental standards, manages critical fiscal and contract activities, and collaborates closely with staff, supervisors, managers, and contractors to maintain accurate data, effective training delivery, and consistent statewide practices. This position requires the ability to manage multiple ongoing initiatives of varying complexity while using independent judgment, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration across different Divisions and Districts statewide. The successful candidate must work effectively with minimal direction, uphold ethical practices and policies, ensure the best value for the State, and maintain a positive, customer focused approach that produces accurate, timely, and high quality results.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
