Job summary

Lone Star College – CyFair seeks an Analyst I, Budget and Finance to analyze campus budgets, forecast spending, and prepare reports and dashboards for leaders. You will partner with Managers and Executives to support budget development and ensure controls and performance metrics are met.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience; proficiency in Excel and Power BI is preferred. Travel within the service area may be required.

Job Description
Purpose and Scope

The Analyst I, Budget and Finance - CyFair supports the attainmentof campus strategic goals and plans through analysis of budgetary,financial, and operational data, and making data-basedrecommendations. Supports campus Managers and Executives withday-to-day management of the campus budget, including analysis,forecasting, reallocation, and reporting to ensure all campusbudgetary guidelines and goals are met and maintained. Positionwill work closely with Managers and Executives. Workscollaboratively and partners with colleagues across campus torespond to a variety of requests for research, analysis, anddevelopment of reports and dashboards. May work collaborativelywith colleagues across campus to design, plan, and implementbusiness process improvements, including technologyapplications.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Monitors and analyzes campus budgetary and financialperformance on a regular basis. Evaluates and forecasts campusspending while recognizing trends. Provides financial analysis andsupport for campus-wide operational initiatives
  2. Reviews budget trends comparing to expected performance andmaking recommendations, as necessary. Summarizes and submitsrecommendations for the funding or reallocation of funds
  3. Performs cost-benefits, operational and financial analysis
  4. Works closely with Managers and Executives to assist with thedevelopment of the annual budget
  5. Examines budgets and financials for completeness, accuracy, andconformance with procedures and policies
  6. Assists with the day-to-day functions of the campus budget andfinance department
  7. Designs and develops reports and dashboards for campus. Usesquery functions in Lone Star systems to provide data in usefulformats
  8. Works as a team member on broader and more complex projects, asdirected by management
  9. Seeks new ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness, andmakes recommendations
  10. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned

  • Ability and willingness to travel to other LSCcampuses/locations as needed; ability and willingness to travel totraining/professional development as needed
Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other generaloffice equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards
  • Work will involve some travel within the LSC service area(north Greater Houston metro area)
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience, or anequivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or arelated field
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analysis,Finance, Statistics, or a related field
  • Experience working with budgets
  • Experience in business, financial, or operational analysis
  • Experience with developing and maintaining dashboards andreports
Salary

Hiring salary range is $48,152 - $55,375. Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all postedfull-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fallin that range is determined by your related experience andeducation. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone StarCollege, the resume submitted in the application process will beutilized to calculate your salary offer.
