Curtiss-Wright is seeking a student in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil/Structural Engineering to assist in preparing formal design reports, structural calculation packages, and safety-related evaluations for nuclear power plant components.

You will perform structural, stress, and fatigue analyses under internal/external pressure, seismic events, thermal transients, operating dynamics, and external loads using ANSYS and SolidWorks.

Formación

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil/Structural Engineering with a minimum 3.3 GPA.
• Strong fundamentals in statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluid/thermal dynamics, and structural mechanics.
• Experience with finite element software (ANSYS Mechanical) and 3D CAD (SolidWorks).
• Ability to evaluate structural loads including seismic and pressure, and to document findings clearly.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in preparing Design Reports, structural calculation packages, and safety-related evaluations.
• Perform structural, stress, and fatigue analyses under various loads.
• Use ANSYS to build FE models, apply boundary conditions, run simulations, and post-process results.
• Review and modify 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks for accuracy.
• Collaborate with design engineers to propose geometry changes and ensure code compliance (ASME BPVC).
• Verify models with classical hand calculations and engineering fundamentals.
