Job summary

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is seeking an Anaesthesia Assistant to support the Operating Room teams. The AA will provide technical and clinical assistance to the Anaesthesiologist, including block room support and inductions, under supervision and with immediate availability of an Anaesthesiologist.

The role requires a Baccalaureate Degree in a health discipline, CCAA, and 2+ years in OR settings, plus BLS and ACLS within one year. SHN emphasizes collaboration, safety, and equity in care.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in a related health discipline and registration with a regulated health care profession.
• Post graduate diploma/certificate in the AA program from an accredited institution.
• CCAA certification and current BLS; ACLS within 12 months.
• Knowledge of anaesthesiology, hemodynamics, and anaesthesia equipment.
• Collaborative inter-professional practice and strong communication required.

Responsibilities

• Provide anaesthesia care to stable surgical patients under supervision and with a/an anaesthesiologist available.
• Assist in the block room and with inductions within the operating room.
• Follow scope of practice and report hazards; demonstrate sound clinical judgment.
• Maintain professional standards and effective communication with the team.
