Paychex in Cincinnati is seeking a detail‑oriented Penalty Notices Research Specialist to support the Paycor Tax Team. You will review original tax returns and prepare amended federal, state, and local returns while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Ideal candidates have an Associate's degree, 1–2+ years in accounting/payroll/tax, strong analytical and Excel skills, and the ability to manage a high‑volume workload in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's preferred.
• 1 year of accounting, business, or Paycor experience preferred.
• 2+ years payroll/tax experience preferred.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze original tax returns to determine amendment requirements.
• Prepare and process amended federal, state, and local tax returns accurately.
• Research tax law changes relevant to amended filings.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies or missing information.
• Communicate with taxpayers, tax professionals, and internal departments for documentation.
• Maintain records, monitor inventory of amended returns, and meet SLAs.
