Job summary

NYU Langone Health in Manhasset is seeking an Ambulatory Surgery Patient Support Assistant for the Preop/PACU. You will provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, supporting clinical, procedural, and unit operations in the ambulatory surgery center.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, vital signs, rounds for comfort and safety, admissions and discharges, and preparation for procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant Program, certified as a CNA and at least 6 months relevant experience.
• BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required on entry to position.
• English proficiency in speaking, reading and writing; other languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility support.
• Monitor vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, SpO2, respirations) and intake/output; report abnormalities to RN.
• Make rounds to address comfort, safety, and personal needs; respond to call lights.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges; prep, belongings handling, and escorting.
• Prepare and assist with procedures; maintain sterile technique and infection control.
