Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is seeking an Ambulatory Surgery Patient Support Assistant. You will assist with direct patient care under RN supervision, support procedural readiness, and help with equipment and supply management in the ASC setting.

You will perform ADLs, monitor vitals, and help with admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining a safe, compassionate environment and collaborating with the surgical team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant Program and CNA certification.
• BLS/Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required upon entry.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of English in verbal, reading and writing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility support.
• Monitor vital signs (BP, pulse, temp, SpO2, respirations) and report abnormalities to RN.
• Conduct patient rounds to address comfort, safety, and personal needs; respond to call lights.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges and escorting.
• Support basic clinical tasks such as specimen collection and simple treatments.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition.
• Ensure operating/procedural rooms and units are stocked and prepared with equipment.
• Provide direct assistance to surgical/procedural teams; maintain sterile technique.
