Job summary

Southpoint Surgery Center, affiliated with North Carolina Specialty Hospital, seeks an experienced RN to provide ambulatory pre-operative nursing care in a multi-specialty center in the Durham-Southpoint area.

The role requires RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, and strong clinical skills; you will support anesthesia teams, manage patient safety, and ensure efficient pre-op workflows in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Assesses and plans total nursing care for pre-op patients.
• Monitors patient symptoms and reports changes to the team.
• Administers medications per physician orders.
• Prepares and discharges pre-op patients per policy.
• Reviews charts for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensures consent accuracy and OR schedule alignment.
• Performs pre-op labs and reports abnormal results.
• Maintains patient privacy and collaborates with OR staff.
• Maintains supplies and safety in the work area.
• Provides orientation to new staff as directed.
