Job summary

Southpoint Surgery Center, an affiliate of North Carolina Specialty Hospital, seeks an experienced perioperative nurse for the PACU. You will deliver comprehensive nursing care across the age continuum in a fast-paced ambulatory setting and supervise staff when the manager is unavailable.

You will apply the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, collaborate on discharge planning, and ensure age-appropriate care standards are followed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required; Associates degree required, BSN preferred.
• Current licensure in North Carolina or compact multi-state RN license required.
• BLS certification required upon hire; ACLS and PALS preferred on hire or within 6 months.
• Minimum 1 year perioperative nursing experience and 1 year critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients across age groups in PACU using the nursing process.
• Direct and supervise team members; assist manager in decision making when needed.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient plans of care; document care accurately.
• Collaborate with care team on discharge planning and readiness for discharge.
• Follow age-specific standards for medications and post-anesthesia care.
• Maintain cultural and developmental considerations in care plans.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and safe, efficient care delivery.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and problem-solving teams.
