A caregiver in this position works varying shifts.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

1. Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
2. Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
3. Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
4. Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
5. Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
6. Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
7. Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

1. High School Diploma/GED
2. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) upon hire
3. Active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as a Certified Pharmacy Technician OR Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with agreement of updating registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the OBOP within six months of hire
4. Can perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
