Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an Ambulatory Rx Assistance Pharmacy Technician to support prescription assistance for patients across ambulatory settings, including infusion suites, clinics, and post-discharge. The role blends pharmacy and billing knowledge with case management and social work to aid patient medications.

The position involves coordinating with care teams, insurers, and community programs to secure medication access and financial assistance as part of discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Certification as Pharmacy Technician or eligibility per IL rules.
• Licensed Pharmacy Technician within 60 days of license application (IDFPR).
• Certified Pharmacy Technician within 2 years of license issue date (IL).

Responsibilities

• Assess patient prescription assistance needs and provide resources (coupons, copay cards, 340b, assistance programs).
• Submit prescription prior authorizations to insurers as needed.
• Follow One Time Prescription Assistance Protocol.
• Contact community agencies, insurers and pharmacies to gather info and coordinate efforts.
• Communicate plan for prescription assistance to patient and care team.
• Document interactions in EPIC per CM107 policy.
• Collaborate with RN Care Coordinator, Social Work, pharmacists and care team on discharge plan.
• Identify and enroll patients in medication assistance programs.
• Secure and review paperwork to facilitate enrollment in programs.
• Execute logistics of assistance programs (replenishment, copay cards, coupons, payments).
• Monitor payments and reimbursements for medical benefit drugs.
• Track, monitor and report metrics to supervisor timely.
