Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for the M Health Fairview Clinic in Elk River and nearby locations. Primary shifts are 10:00am-6:30pm Mon-Thu and 9:00am-5:30pm Fri at Elk River with some weekend coverage at Urgent Care sites and potential floating to nearby clinics.

The MLT will perform waived, moderate, or high complexity testing, ensure proper specimen collection, and operate lab instrumentation with adherence to SOPs, QC, and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Associate or higher degree in laboratory field with practicum or equivalent qualifying routes to moderate complexity testing per CLIA ’88.
• Associate or higher degree in chemical/biological/clinical/medical laboratory science or related diploma/transcript.
• 60 semester hours with biology and chemistry; transcript must be provided.
• 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training plus degree or 60 sem. hours and biology/chemistry credits; transcript required.
• Eligible for DHHS-approved lab certification (ASCP/ASCPi/AMT/AAB) within 1 year.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Follows guidelines to obtain specimens and perform waived, moderate, or high complexity testing and report results.
• Collects and processes biological specimens following SOPs.
• Verifies patient identity and specimen integrity before testing.
• Operates laboratory instrumentation and information systems per procedure.
• Maintains QC documentation and troubleshooting steps.
• Communicates abnormal/critical results to care providers and documents actions.

Education

Associate or higher degree in laboratory field with practicum

Associate or higher degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science

60 semester hours with biology and chemistry

50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training + degree or 60 semester hours

HHS approved laboratory certification eligible (ASCP/ASCPi/AMT/AAB) within 1 year

Basic Life Support within 90 days
