Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support clinic operations. You will perform clinical tasks under licensed supervision, including taking vitals, assisting with exams, and handling clerical duties within the EMR environment.

Responsibilities include EKGs, venipuncture, injections, patient room preparation, and interaction with insurers for approvals and referrals. Per diem and full-time options may apply; signing bonus may be available.

Qualifications

• Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, the Medical Assistant II provides clinical care and performs clerical duties to support office/clinic functions.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to examination rooms, takes and records vital signs such as blood pressures, temperatures, height and weight.
• Performs EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care tests according to clinic/office standards.
• Administers non-intravenous injections as directed or required by the office/clinic.
• Assists with routine physical examinations or clinical procedures.
• Reviews laboratory results and notifies physicians of abnormal findings.
• Maintains patient care rooms, equipment, and supplies; enters data in EMR as required.
• Processes prescriptions and refills as directed per procedure.
• Collaborates with insurers to verify coverage, eligibility, and pre-authorizations.
• Collects co-payments and maintains records.
