Job summary

Deerfield Academy seeks an Assistant Director for the Deerfield Fund to lead written content, donor communications, and annual fundraising campaigns. This role collaborates with leadership to implement initiatives and manage reunion fundraising for multiple classes.

The position requires 3–5 years in advancement, strong writing skills, and the ability to work with volunteers. Travel to regional events is expected as part of duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3–5 years in Advancement or a related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in crafting original written communications for varied audiences.
• Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage and motivate volunteers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
• Ability and sensitivity to highly confidential information.
• High level of integrity and a strong work ethic.
• Willingness to travel up to 15 days per year.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Deerfield Fund leadership and Communications to create original written content for Deerfield Fund communications (mailed and digital).
• Strategize fundraising initiatives (Day of Giving, phonathons) using Hustle, ThankView, GiveCampus.
• Direct Reunion fundraising for 30th, 35th, and 40th classes, including goal setting and volunteer management.
• Collaborate with Alumni Relations on reunion programming.
• Manage a portfolio of prospects and solicit through in-person meetings.
• Track and report prospect activity and keep contact information up to date.
• Participate in weekend/evening campus events and regional outreach.
