Job summary

New Albany-Floyd Co Con Sch is seeking an Alternative Classroom Instructional Aide to support teachers and students in the Alternative Instruction Classroom. The role involves monitoring students, providing guidance, and assisting with lesson tasks to reinforce learning concepts.

The position offers hourly pay of $16.05 to $17.15 based on education and experience, with a 6.5-hour workday and benefits eligibility for medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus sick and personal days.

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience requirements as listed.
• Ability to work with school aged children, parents and faculty.

Responsibilities

• Assists students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with teachers, staff and students.
• Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Keeps students focused on tasks and reports any problems or concerns to the teacher.
• Works with and assists Teachers in utilizing academic materials to meet individual student needs.
• Supervises and monitors students assigned to Alternative Classroom for misbehavior.
• Collects assignments for Teachers for students in Alternative Classroom.
• Monitors students to/from non-academic activities or out-of-classroom instruction (lunch, P.E., art).
• Assists in the collection and organization of instructional materials.
• May counsels students and addresses behavioral/emotional problems.
