SCRIBNER MIDDLE SCHOOL in New Albany, Indiana is seeking an Alternative Instructional Aide to support monitoring students in the Alternative Instruction Classroom and provide guidance in constructive decision making.

The role includes assisting teachers, supervising students, and helping with instructional materials. Starting date is immediate; benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus sick and personal days, with a 6.5-hour workday and a per-hour pay range of $16.05–$17.15.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 2 years college credit or ParaPro equivalent.
• Experience in classroom instructional aide preferred.
• Ability to work with school-aged children.

Responsibilities

• Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with teachers, staff and students.
• Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Keeps students focused on tasks and reports any problems or concerns to the teacher.
• Works with and assists Teachers in utilizing academic materials to meet individual student needs.
• Supervises and monitors students assigned to Alternative Classroom.
• Collects assignments for Teachers for students in Alternative Classroom.
• Monitors students to/from non-academic activities or out-of-classroom instruction (lunch, P.E. art).
• Assists students with and/or performs personal hygiene tasks as applicable.
• Assists in the collection and organization of instructional materials.
• May counsel students; addresses behavioral and emotional problems.
