The Alterations Customer Service Representative (CSR) plays a vital role in the successful operation of the Alterations department, contributing to providing superior customer service. The CSR is responsible for delivering an A+ customer experience, including welcoming and servicing customers, scheduling appointments, answering phones, pressing garments, and ensuring items are ready for pickup. S/he reports to the Store Manager.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Welcome all customers with genuine enthusiasm, over phone, virtual chats, and in person, communicating clearly and adapting style to meet customer needs, resolving conflicts effectively.
  2. Use all systems to manage customer flow, ensuring a five-star experience.
  3. Meet all service vows: Prepare, Welcome, Meet Needs & Be There for all customers, including operational checklist tasks and addressing emotional and practical needs.
  4. Provide exceptional service to multiple customers simultaneously, proactively addressing concerns and knowing when to escalate issues to leadership.
  5. Effectively communicate how alterations can enhance the dress for her event, in partnership with Alterations.
  6. Promote all alterations services and personalization options.
  7. Maintain store standards—cleanliness, organization, promotional readiness, store recovery—to support a flawless shopping experience.
  8. Maintain high dress code standards as per policy.
  9. Greet and escort all alterations customers for their appointments.
  10. Press, steam, and spot clean merchandise, ensuring quality control before final delivery.
  11. Build long-term customer relationships to exceed satisfaction and loyalty.
  12. Support inventory management by processing special orders, pickups, and maintaining product quality standards.
  13. Support cash wrap procedures, processing transactions accurately to ensure customers feel celebrated.
  14. Seek assistance from the Alterations Manager for unresolved customer issues.
  15. Keep the alterations room clean and organized.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by store management.
Physical Demands:
  • Stand, walk, sit for extended periods; reach, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; bend, twist, move throughout store, talk, hear.
  • Use manual dexterity for POS, money handling, steaming, sewing, fitting, and using electronic devices.
  • Lift/move up to 10 pounds.
  • Visual acuity for close and distant tasks, reading, and computer use.
Education & Credentials:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years retail experience in apparel or specialty store
  • Prior sewing experience helpful
  • Experience with POS systems
