Job Overview

The Alterations Customer Service Representative (CSR) plays a vital role in the success of the Alterations department by providing exceptional customer service. Reporting to the Store Manager, the CSR welcomes and services customers, manages appointments, answers phones, presses garments, and ensures items are ready for pickup.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Greet customers warmly in person, over the phone, and via virtual chats, demonstrating clear communication and conflict resolution skills.
  2. Manage customer flow using all store systems to deliver a five-star experience.
  3. Meet all service standards, including preparing, welcoming, addressing needs, and supporting customers emotionally and practically.
  4. Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers simultaneously, addressing concerns confidently and knowing when to escalate issues.
  5. Explain the importance of alterations in perfecting the dress for the event and promote all alteration services and options.
  6. Maintain store standards—cleanliness, organization, promotional readiness, and recovery—to ensure a flawless shopping environment.
  7. Greet and escort alteration customers for their appointments.
  8. Press, steam, and spot clean merchandise, inspecting garments for quality before delivery.
  9. Build long-term customer relationships to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
  10. Support inventory management, processing orders and pickups, and maintaining quality standards.
  11. Process transactions accurately at the cash wrap to ensure customers feel valued.
  12. Seek assistance from the Alterations Manager for unresolved customer issues.
  13. Keep the alterations room clean and organized.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, sit, reach, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the store as needed.
  • Use hands and arms for tasks like steaming garments, using POS systems, and sewing if required.
  • Lift or move up to 10 pounds.
  • See clearly at close and distance, with good peripheral vision and depth perception, and operate electronic devices for extended periods.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years retail experience in apparel or specialty stores
  • Prior sewing experience is a plus
  • Experience with computerized POS systems
