Job summary

Precision Castparts seeks a seasoned Operations Leader to manage AlloyWorks manufacturing operations, focusing on safety, quality, scheduling, and finance. The role drives continuous improvement, supplier coordination, and staffing to meet forecasts in a 24/7 environment.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of manufacturing leadership, 7+ years in engineering/manufacturing, and expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and production scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar required.
  • Master's in Business Management preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years or more leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
  • 7 yrs. + engineering/manufacturing experience.
  • Technical skills in Lean Manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Process Improvement, freight and distribution, and production scheduling; Black Belt Certification preferred.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple requests/projects.
  • Possess ability to provide leadership, communication, organizational, analytical & problem solving.
  • 25% travel required.
  • Must be able to support a 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the organization to a sustaining safety culture.
  • Lead and manage the organization to a zero-defect quality system.
  • Coach and develop staff at all levels to achieve operational results.
  • Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing systems.
  • Oversee raw material demand and purchasing.
  • Plan production to balance customer demand and efficient melting schedules.
  • Build and lead a multifunctional manufacturing team.
  • Establish and implement company policies, goals, objectives and procedures.
  • Ensure staffing levels meet forecasts.
  • Manage finances across variable, fixed, raw materials, SG&A, and capital planning.
  • Perform failure mode analysis and root cause corrective actions.
  • Improve plasma cold hearth and raw material support processes.
  • Maintain reliable and safe systems while improving production rates, yields, costs, and changeovers.
  • Develop innovative solutions to manufacturing problems.

Job description

This position is responsible for managing all aspects of AlloyWorks manufacturing operations, including safety, quality, engineering, purchasing, scheduling, human resources, finance, budget planning, and sales.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the organization to a sustaining safety culture
  • Lead and manage the organization to a zero-defect quality system
  • Ability to work with and manage through coaching people at all levels of the organization to achieve operational results
  • Manage and identify continuous improvement of manufacturing systems
  • Manage raw material demand and purchasing
  • Manage production planning to achieve most efficient and productive melting schedule and balance customer demand requirements
  • Build and lead a multifunctional manufacturing team
  • Implement and facilitate the establishment of company policies, goals, objectives and procedures
  • Ensure that staffing levels are adequate to meet current and projected business forecasts
  • Manage exempt and non-exempt salaries to achieve operational and budget goals
  • Manage all aspects of AlloyWorks finances - variable, fixed, raw materials, sga, and capital planning to achieve operational and budget goals
  • Failure mode analysis and root cause preventative action implementation
  • Evaluate and improve on processes in plasma cold hearth and raw material support manufacturing systems
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yield, costs and changeovers
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to manufacturing problems/issues
  • Manage/coordinate manufacturing equipment preventative maintenance, fabrication and repair
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar required
