Operations Manager – Colorado Springs, CO

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing the entire Fabrication, Assembly and Warehouse processes. This role manages 2 direct salary reports and approximately 200 hourly team members, focusing on improving operational efficiency, driving capital and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring quality standards are achieved, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership/Management – Lead and manage all activities within the Fabrication, Assembly, and Warehouse areas, develop a deep understanding of the end‑to‑end workflow, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and engagement.
  • Continuous Improvement – Drive Lean manufacturing principles and methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, MDI) to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity; monitor KPIs and use data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Team Leadership – Provide coaching and development opportunities, conduct regular team meetings, and communicate goals, updates, and performance metrics.
  • Customer Focus – Ensure customer requirements are met by delivering high‑quality products on time and within budget, collaborating with EHS, Quality, HR, Finance, Engineering, OpEx, and Customer Experience.
  • Safety and Compliance – Promote and enforce a safe work environment by adhering to company safety policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Resource Planning and Management – Manage labor, equipment, and materials to meet production schedules, collaborate with supply chain and procurement for timely material availability.
  • Cost Control – Monitor and control costs, identify opportunities for cost efficiency, and manage budgets for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Reporting and Communication – Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Operational Excellence – Optimize production processes, implement Lean principles, and continuously improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Strategic Planning – Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with company objectives, anticipate future challenges and opportunities.
  • Financial Acumen – Understand budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis to manage plant profitability and make data‑driven decisions.
  • Quality Assurance – Apply quality control processes and standards to ensure products meet customer expectations and lead initiatives to reduce defects.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills – Effectively interact with team members, senior management, and external stakeholders, building and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Problem‑Solving and Analytical Thinking – Identify issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions under pressure.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility – Adapt to changing circumstances, manage multiple priorities, and embrace new ideas.
  • Technical Knowledge – Familiarity with manufacturing technologies, equipment, industry software tools, supply chain and logistics processes.
  • Project Management – Plan, execute, and oversee projects to improve plant operations and achieve strategic goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5‑7 years combined experience in Operations, Warehousing and Distribution with a proven track record in a high‑volume automated facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team.
  • Proven experience implementing Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong strategic planning, project management, and financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and manage multiple priorities.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States; the company does not sponsor work visas.
