Job summary

Lefrak Organization is seeking a building maintenance worker to support the superintendent in keeping the property safe, secure and comfortable for residents and staff.

You will handle plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, appliance repairs, grounds keeping and cleaning, with on-call emergencies. Strong multitasking and safety mindset required; experience in building maintenance and ability to work with contractors is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; read, write and speak English.
• 3 years of building maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting.
• FDNY certificates of fitness are helpful.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and be on-call at nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform plumbing repairs, replacements, and installations.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and replace components.
• Repair drywall/plaster; touch up paint.
• Paint unit walls between tenants.
• Repair major appliances.
• Manage grounds keeping and landscaping tasks.
• Clean and maintain common areas and vacated units.
• Respond to emergencies; on-call nights/weekends.
• Document all work, purchases, and incidents.
• Prioritize work to minimize vacancy loss.
• Inventory control of spare parts.
• Inspect and maintain boilers, pumps, and mechanical systems.
