Job summary

A leading digital streaming network seeks an Alerts Editor to craft and send mobile push alerts for its sports app, delivering breaking news and live storylines. This onsite role is based in Fort Lauderdale, FL (preferred) or New York, NY, on a 9-month assignment at 40 hours per week.

You will evaluate live content, write engaging alerts in AP style, and coordinate with streaming and marketing teams to boost engagement. Occasional homepage editing is also required.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in sports journalism, content creation, or marketing.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Broad sports knowledge, emphasis on football, combat sports, and soccer.
• Ability to share work samples upon request.
• AP style experience preferred.
• CMS experience preferred.
• Experience using AI tools to improve efficiency preferred.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, high-volume environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate content and identify news and storylines from live sports events, writing and sending mobile push notifications.
• Deliver the voice and pace of the app's alerts, blending journalism and promotional storytelling to support partnerships and inform fans.
• Work within an alerts team balancing editorial decisions, promotional requirements, and data-driven audience analysis.
• Partner with streaming and sports marketing teams, including nights and weekends, to drive viewership and engagement.
• Manage the sports website homepage and occasionally copy-edit articles.

A leading digital streaming network seeks an Alerts Editor to write and send mobile push alerts for its sports app, delivering breaking news and live sports storylines.

Alerts Editor Responsibilities:

• Evaluate content and identify news and storylines emerging from live sports games and events, writing and sending mobile push notifications to sports app users to drive engagement.
• Deliver the voice and pace of the app's alerts, blending journalistic and promotional storytelling to support sports rights partnerships and give fans key information.
• Work within an alerts and content programming team that balances editorial decision-making, promotional requirements, and data-driven analysis of audience behavior.
• Partner with streaming and sports marketing teams, particularly on nights and weekends, and coordinate with the streaming service's sports coordinator to drive viewership, audience re-engagement, and consistency across platforms.
• Manage the sports website's home page and occasionally help copy-edit articles.

Alerts Editor Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of experience in sports journalism, content creation, or marketing, including sports journalism experience.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Broad sports knowledge, with an emphasis on football, combat sports, and soccer.
• Ability to share work samples upon request.
• Experience writing and editing in AP style is preferred.
• Experience using content management systems is preferred.
• Experience using AI tools to improve efficiency is preferred.
• Ability to prioritize as needs evolve in a fast-paced, high-volume environment is preferred.

Shift:

• 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with flexibility to regularly work nights and weekends as business needs evolve.
