Job summary

HDR, Inc. in Anchorage, Alaska is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead local project accounting, reporting to the Assistant Regional Accounting Director, and collaborate with the Alaska Area Manager.

This role requires analytical skills, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple accounting processes across projects. You will supervise project accountants, coordinate budgets and invoicing, ensure internal controls, and support monthly forecasts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or closely related field
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience; advanced degree may offset years of experience
• Customer service oriented; participate in employee‑owned culture
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
• Strong communication and collaboration with all levels of the organization
• Proficient with MS Office, Oracle experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and train local project accounting staff and manage all accounting functions
• Coordinate with Area Manager and Regional Controller on ledgers, budgets, invoicing, payables, receivables and related information
• Support monthly forecasting and annual budgeting, including ad hoc analysis and reporting
• Advise management on financial performance of departments and projects
• Establish internal controls and ensure audit compliance
• Supervise project accountants and accounting assistants for timesheets, expenses, and project numbers
• Make staffing recommendations and interact with vendors and clients on invoicing/reporting
• Maintain a small portfolio of projects and perform other duties as needed
