Job summary

Midwest Aerospace Casting LLC in Merrillville, IN seeks a Core/Mold Maker for the safe and precise production of cores, copes and drags. The role involves following patterns and procedures, using hand tools, and standing for long periods to build and inspect tooling components.

You will set up chills, locators, vents, and risers, pack with sand, season and turn out product, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. This is on-site, physical work requiring attention to detail.

• Basic math skills and ability to read and understand procedures.
• English literacy required for procedures.
• On-the-Job training until position certification is achieved.

Responsibilities

• Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities.
• Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
• Understand customer requirements, internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, and their impact on quality and efficiency.
• Review and inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into every step.
• Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information.
• Perform tasks efficiently according to given standards and utilizing procedures available.
• Keep equipment and tools maintained and report repairs to management.
• Ensure daily schedule compliance and manage inventory; notify material needs.
• Retrieve, inspect, clean and store patterns and boxes used during a job.
• Understand and assemble materials such as chills, locators, vents, insulators, risers, etc.
• Demonstrate safe operation of hoists and carts in core making.
• Report problems to immediate management.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Description

Basic Function:

Responsible for proper and safe production of cores, copes & drags using patterns and procedures to perform the required tasks. Core/Molders have to do a lot of twisting, using of mallets, picking things up, and pushing. This is a physical job that requires a person to be on their feet all day. he core/mold maker will utilize work instructions, follow procedures to install chills, locators, vents, risers, pack with sand, season and turn out product. Core/Mold makers shall ensure all procedures are being followed and signed, also that area is clean and free of obstructions.

Responsibilities:

12. Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate management.


13. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Training/Experience:

On-the-Job training while working under an experienced operator until position certification is achieved.
