Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in Bluegrass, Tennessee, seeks a shop-floor technician to load and operate core-production equipment, inspect cores, and follow product criteria.

You will maintain safety, document OEE, and support leadership with problem solving while ensuring punctuality and teamwork in a demanding manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with shop floor data systems or similar production software.
• Ability to read and follow product criteria and activity instructions.
• Comply with safety precautions and TPM schedules.

Responsibilities

• Wand onto the shop floor data system for labor.
• Read and follow product criteria, activity instructions, and elements.
• Follow safety precautions as spelled out in the Activity Instruction.
• Operate and monitor equipment/tools (Press, Pill Heater, Belt Sander, Anneal Bake Oven, Ring Press, CNC Machines, Burr Gun, Ultra Max).
• Form and finish cores per Activity Instruction and product criteria.
• Load anneal bake setters per product criteria, if required.
• Load and unload anneal bake oven, if required.
• Understand loading and operation of CNC machines.
• Ensure visual and dimensional quality of green cores (gauge cores).
• Visually inspect cores for defects per product criteria or activity instruction.
• Label and manage lot travelers and scrap; transport cores to kiln truck.
• Fill out OEE sheets.
• Maintain clean work area and perform TPM per schedule.
• Perform pre-shift die inspection and TPM checklist.
• Observe safety policies and regulations.
• Maintain high attendance record.
• Use dial calipers, micrometers and pin gauges.
• Understand the HCS 'Help Chain'.
• Maintain pacing via Aussie Pace System.
• Perform Problem Solving with Leadership.
• Perform other duties as directed by Leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (DUTIES) OF THE JOB:

• Correctly wand onto the shop floor data system for labor
• Read and follow appropriate product criteria, activity instruction's, and elements
• Follow all safety precautions as spelled out in the Activity Instruction
• Use of appropriate equipment/tools (Press, Pill Heater, Belt Sander, Anneal Bake Oven, Ring Press, CNC Machines, Burr Gun, Ultra Max, Hand Tools)
• Form and finish cores per Activity instruction and product criteria
• Load anneal bake setters per product criteria, if required
• Load and unload anneal bake oven, if required
• Understanding of loading and operation of CNC machines
• Responsible for visual and dimensional quality of green cores (gauge cores)
• Visually inspect cores for unacceptable defects per the product criteria or activity instruction
