Job summary

SP+ is seeking a Wheelchair Assistant at our Kenner, LA airport facility. The role involves helping passengers in wheelchairs, guiding them to gates and assisting with luggage movement, while maintaining safety and courtesy.

A physical role with badge eligibility, ongoing training, and a customer-first mindset is required. Eligible benefits and on-the-job security training accompany this position, with a starting wage of $12.00 per hour plus tips.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to clear a background and drug screen.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and push a loaded wheelchair up to 300 lbs on inclines.
• Ability to lift passengers from the wheelchair to the plane seat.
• Experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Push wheelchair passengers to and from gates.
• Roll passenger-occupied wheelchairs safely down the jet bridge.
• Ensure wheel brakes are in place before exiting the wheelchair.
• Complete any necessary wheelchair or incident reports.
• Follow dispatcher gate orders.
• Maintain a friendly and positive attitude and assist passengers with any problems.
