Job summary

SP+ (a Metropolis Company) is hiring a Wheelchair Assistant to support passengers at the airport in Portland, OR. The role involves pushing wheelchairs to gates, assisting passengers with luggage, and maintaining safety and courtesy.

The position requires lifting up to 75 lbs, clearing background checks, and obtaining an airport badge. Prior customer service experience is preferred and adherence to airport compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Able to clear a background and drug screen.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs and push a loaded wheelchair up to 300 lbs.
• Ability to lift passengers from the wheelchair to the plane seat.
• Experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Push wheelchair passengers to and from gates.
• Roll passenger-occupied wheelchair safely down the jet bridge.
• Ensure wheel brakes are in place prior to allowing passengers to exit the wheelchair.
• Complete wheelchair or incident reports.
• Follow dispatcher gate orders.
• Maintain a friendly and positive attitude and assist passengers with needs.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff and authorities.
• Exceed customer service standards.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
