Job summary

The City of Chicago's Chicago Department of Aviation seeks a Manager of ID Badging, BX16, to supervise the I.D. Badging Section at O'Hare and Midway, overseeing the review and issuance of airport ID badges.

You will manage staff, ensure compliance with security procedures, coordinate background checks, and work with federal/state agencies and vendors to keep badge operations efficient.

Starting salary is $78,768 per year with occasional travel; flexible hours and a valid license are required.

Qualifications

• Nine (9) years of work experience in a fast-paced customer service operation.
• Associate's degree + seven (7) years of work experience in a fast-paced customer service operation, including two years in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor's degree + five (5) years of work experience in a fast-paced customer service operation, including two years in a supervisory role.
• Master's degree or higher + four (4) years of work experience in a fast-paced customer service operation, including two years in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Supervise clerical staff at O'Hare and Midway responsible for ID badge applications and access to airport facilities.
• Ensure adherence to procedures for reviewing information, verifying documents, and scanning into the badging system.
• Oversee fingerprinting and background checks and transmission to security vendors and federal agencies.
• Receive and review background check reports to determine clearance or denial of badges.
• Monitor daily operations to maintain smooth workflow and address delays.
• Resolve customer issues affecting badge processing.
• Respond to requests from federal/state agencies, airport tenants, and airlines.
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve issues with the automated badging system.
• Ensure staff training on security badging processes.
