Job summary

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority seeks an Air Conditioning Mechanic to maintain and repair the commercial HVAC systems at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) or Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

This journey-level position, in the Utilities Division, requires four years of HVAC experience, strong safety knowledge, and the ability to perform complex repairs and preventive maintenance on site.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible experience in the installation, test, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning equipment and systems.
• Full performance (journey) level knowledge of and skill in the HVAC trade.
• Ability to analyze data and information (including blueprints and schematics).
• Ability to work safely per OSHA rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency calls; troubleshoots and repairs HVAC systems.
• Dismantles and repairs electrical, electronic HVAC units and related components.
• Installs and aligns motors, belts, and control systems; recalibrates controls.
• Repairs water coolers and window AC units; performs preventive maintenance.
• Welds/brazes pipes; performs start-up tests with coordination.
• Trains or guides apprentices as needed.
