Job summary

The City of Atlanta is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to repair and maintain airfield pavements and ramps at the airport. You will operate heavy machinery, perform routine maintenance, and ensure compliance with FAA guidelines and safety standards.

A valid CDL-B or higher is required, along with DOT medical certification. Responsibilities include evaluating materials, managing vegetation around runways, and coordinating with supervision for safe operations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of equipment used in construction, paving and vegetation management.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to perform operator maintenance and lubrications
• Possession of a valid CDL, class B or higher with current DOT medical certification
• FAA AMA certification within 90 days of hire
• Able to pass physical and federal background checks

Responsibilities

• Plans, constructs, and repairs airfield pavements, roadways, streets, curbs and parking ramps using heavy mechanized equipment and paving procedures.
• Evaluates soil, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete mixtures before repairs.
• Operates snow and ice removal equipment to maintain normal flight operations.
• Inspects, lubricates and performs operator maintenance on construction and snow removal equipment; reports discrepancies.
• Determines equipment requirements for maintenance and repairs operations.
