Job summary

City of Atlanta is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Technician I to support airport grounds maintenance, inspections, and safety compliance. The role involves outdoor work in varied weather, operating mowers, loaders, and related equipment, and assisting with routine and emergency tasks.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of grounds experience, and AMA Certification within 6 months. A CDL or additional certifications are preferred and the department offers opportunities

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
At least two years of grounds or landscaping maintenance experience.
Must obtain an AMA Certification within 6 months of employment and maintain annually.
Must demonstrate the ability to advance to Grounds Maintenance Technician II within 18 months of Hire.

Responsibilities

Assist with routine grounds maintenance activities (mowing, edging, trimming, debris removal, pressure washing).
Conduct visual inspections of airport grounds and report safety hazards.
Inspect and maintain grounds maintenance vehicles and equipment.
Support grounds projects including surface sealing and weatherproofing.
Assist during airport emergencies or weather-related events.
Operate grounds equipment and heavy machinery per safety procedures.
Document maintenance activities and equipment use.
