Job summary

The State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, is seeking an Airport Operations Control Unit Supervisor I to supervise airport ground operations and coordinate a team of controllers on neighbor island airports. The role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to manage training and procedures.

Responsibilities include directing unit activities, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating with the DOT Personnel Office.

Qualifications

• Two years of general experience with people, rules, reports, and emergencies.
• Three years of specialized airport ground operations experience.
• Supervisory aptitude with leading teams and training.
• Valid driver's license to drive in Hawaii.
• SIDA clearance and Federal criminal history check per federal regs.

Responsibilities

• Organize, schedule, supervise and direct airport ground operations control activities.
• Direct and supervise Airport Operations Controllers responsible for ground control work.
• Coordinate and schedule unit activities; train subordinates.
• Review and report on overall operations and performance.
• Develop and recommend changes in work procedures.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
