Job summary

State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, is seeking an Airport Operations Control Unit Supervisor I to organize, supervise and direct ground operations control activities at HIA or a neighbor island airport, including supervising a team of Airport Operations Controller II positions.

The role requires 2+ years of general experience, 3 years in airport ground operations, supervisory skills, a valid Hawaii driver’s license and eligibility for SIDA clearance; federal background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of work experience demonstrating abilities to meet and deal with people, apply rules and regulations, prepare reports, and act in emergencies.
• Three (3) years of work experience in airport ground operations control including management of aircraft parking positions, ramp movement, runway and airfield inspections, and enforcement of rules.
• For higher levels, at least one year of specialized experience comparable to Airport Operations Controller II.
• Experience planning and directing the work of others, assigning and reviewing work, advising on difficult areas, scheduling and training new employees.
• Valid driver's license to operate in Hawaii.
• SIDA clearance and criminal history background check as per federal requirements.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Airport Operations Controller II positions and directs training of subordinates.
• Coordinates and schedules unit activities and reviews overall operations; reports on operations and suggests procedural changes.
