Job summary

The State of Hawaiʻi, Department of Transportation, Airport Operations Control Unit Supervisor I role is to organize, schedule, supervise and direct airport ground operations at HIA or neighboring island airports. You will supervise Airport Operations Controller II positions, train staff, coordinate unit activities, and report on overall operations.

Applicants must have 2 years general experience, 3 years specialized experience, 1 year supervisory experience, a valid Hawaii driver’s license, and

Qualifications

Two (2) years of work experience with people, rules, reports and emergencies.
Three (3) years of airport ground operations control work with vehicle/aircraft movement.
At least one year of specialized experience comparable to Airport Operations Controller II.
Supervisory duties including planning, directing, training and evaluating staff.
Driver's license valid to drive in Hawaii at time of appointment.
SIDA clearance via fingerprint-based criminal history check within ten years.
Legal authorization to work in Hawaii.

Responsibilities

Organize, schedule, supervise, and direct airport ground operations control activities.
Supervise Airport Operations Controller II positions and related tasks.
Train subordinates, coordinate unit activities, review operations, and report on performance.
Develop and recommend changes in work procedures to improve efficiency.
