Job summary

Otsego County in Michigan is seeking a Maintenance Technician responsible for skilled maintenance, mechanical work, and janitorial services across airport and county facilities. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of progressively more responsible experience in facilities and grounds maintenance.
• The county may consider an alternative combination of education and experience.
• Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License.
• Working knowledge of building and facility maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of safety in maintaining public facilities and grounds.
• Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools for repairs and maintenance.
• Ability to operate lawn tractors, snowplows and other motorized vehicles.
• Ability to read and follow instructions and manuals.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment with coworkers, contractors, officials and the public.
• Skill in using office equipment and learning new software.

Responsibilities

• Operate snow removal equipment to keep runways, taxiways, roads and parking areas clear.
• Perform maintenance on airfield lighting and facilities, including wiring and parts replacement.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as tractors, mowers, trucks with plows and fuel trucks.
• Monitor and service heating and cooling units, replace components and troubleshoot issues.
• Test electrical circuits and replace fixtures, motors and pumps as needed.
• Perform carpentry tasks like drywall, door frames and shelving installation.
• Maintain county vehicles and perform tune-ups and diagnostic work.
• Conduct grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming and debris removal.
• Provide pilot services such as fueling, hangar support and towing; assist with information for pilots and public.
• Monitor fuel storage and pumping operations and conduct tests per guidelines.
• Cross-train to support other Otsego County facilities and grounds.
• Perform other duties as directed.
