Job summary

Alaska Airlines in Spokane is seeking a Drug Abatement Representative, a variable-time role conducting drug and alcohol testing for employees 24/7, with tests at various times.

You will coordinate with local collection teams, maintain records, and support regulatory testing while ensuring timely completion and confidentiality. Flexibility and reliability are essential to support the program.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service or related field.
  • Reside within 25 miles (or a reasonable commuting distance) of the designated airport location.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight travel.
  • Ability to learn and perform drug and alcohol testing procedures in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including standing, walking, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct drug and alcohol testing, including urine, oral fluid, and breath specimen collections, in compliance with applicable federal regulations, state laws, company policies, and established testing procedures.
  • Coordinate and complete assigned testing activities across multiple workgroups and operational schedules to support timely compliance with testing requirements.
  • Apply critical thinking, sound judgment, and problem‑solving skills when handling testing‑related situations, including direct‑observation collections, testing refusals, and other regulatory testing scenarios, seeking guidance as appropriate.
  • Utilize strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records, documentation, reports, inventories, and expense submissions in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, leaders, collection teams, and business partners to provide guidance on testing procedures, program requirements, and company policies while fostering positive working relationships.
  • Collaborate with station leadership, local collection teams, and fellow Drug Abatement team members to support testing operations, compliance objectives, and operational coverage.
  • Assist with regulatory, legal, or labor‑related matters involving drug and alcohol testing by providing information, documentation, or testimony when required.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements, company policies, testing procedures, and evolving program needs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support Drug Abatement operations, compliance objectives, and evolving business needs.
