Job summary

Mead & Hunt, Inc. is seeking a limited-term, full-time Civil Engineering Intern located in our Bloomington, MN office. The role supports civil airport projects across Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin from May/June 2027 to August/September 2027.

The intern will assist engineers, technicians, and surveyors, perform field inspections, documentation, and surveys, and help prepare reports and estimates. A valid driver's license and travel are required.

Qualifications

• Completed at least two semesters of college-level civil engineering coursework.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks for airport access.
• Willingness to travel to project sites 80–100% of the time.

• Perform measurements, quantity calculations, and prepare pay estimates.

As a result of our expansive growth, we have a position available for a limited-term, full-time civil engineering intern based in our Bloomington, MN office to work in the construction field at various airport projects located throughout the states of Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin starting in May/June 2027 and ending in August/September 2027.

This intern will be responsible for assisting engineers, technicians, and surveyors with civil engineering projects in the following areas:

• Assisting engineers, technicians, and surveyors with civil airport projects including taxiways, runways, aprons, etc.
• Performing measurements and quantity calculations and preparing pay estimates
• Assisting with project report preparation
• Performing field inspection, documentation, and survey work
• Other tasks as assigned.

A valid driver's license, the ability to pass background checks to gain access to airport sites, and frequent travel to construction project sites 80%-100% of the time will be required.

Successful candidates must have completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in civil engineering, construction management, or related field from an accredited college or university by date of hire.

The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all the following:

• Construction field experience including observation and documentation
• Previous internships involving construction, DOT projects, surveying and/or civil site inspections
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Civil3D software
• Understanding of basic grading and testing processesKnowledge of airport planning and/or design
• Survey tasks
• Civil/survey engineering coursework

If you have strong communication and organizational skills, are self-motivated, and can work well both independently and as part of a team.

Hourly Rate Range: $18.00 - $25.00 - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
