Job summary

Mead & Hunt, Inc. is seeking a limited-term, full-time civil engineering intern based in our Bloomington, MN office to support airport construction projects across Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin from May/June 2027 to August/September 2027.

You will assist engineers, technicians and surveyors with tasks including measurements, quantity calculations, pay estimates, field inspections and report preparation. Travel to sites is frequent (80–100%).

Qualifications

• Completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in civil engineering or related field.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of airport planning or design is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to airport sites as required.

As a result of our expansive growth, we have a position available for a limited-term, full-time civil engineering intern based in our Bloomington, MN office to work in the construction field at various airport projects located throughout the states of Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin starting in May/June 2027 and ending in August/September 2027.

This intern will be responsible for assisting engineers, technicians, and surveyors with civil engineering projects in the following areas:

• Assisting engineers, technicians, and surveyors with civil airport projects including taxiways, runways, aprons, etc.
• Performing measurements and quantity calculations and preparing pay estimates
• Assisting with project report preparation
• Performing field inspection, documentation, and survey work
• Other tasks as assigned.

A valid driver’s license, the ability to pass background checks to gain access to airport sites, and frequent travel to construction project sites 80%-100% of the time will be required.

Successful candidates must have completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in civil engineering, construction management, or related field from an accredited college or university by date of hire.

The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all the following:

• Construction field experience including observation and documentation
• Previous internships involving construction, DOT projects, surveying and/or civil site inspections
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Civil3D software
• Understanding of basic grading and testing processes
• Knowledge of airport planning and/or design
• Survey tasks
• Civil/survey engineering coursework

Mead & Hunt will not sponsor a visa (H-1B, etc.) for this position.

Hourly Rate Range: $18.00 - $25.00 – Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
