Job summary

Roanoke Regional Airport Commission seeks an Airport Maintenance Technician to keep our airport safe and functional. You will handle grounds maintenance, paving, equipment operation, and weather response on the airfield.

This role includes cross-training in building repairs and airfield systems, working outdoors in all weather, and a day shift with occasional evening shifts and weekend rotations. A Virginia driver's license and TSA clearance are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, pavement maintenance or similar.
• Team player with a strong work ethic and problem-solving mindset.
• A valid Virginia driver's license and a clean driving record.
• The ability to pass a TSA security clearance and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Grounds maintenance, landscaping, planting, pruning, mulching, weeding and maintaining fences.
• Sweep, repair and ensure safety of paved surfaces including airport runways.
• Operate, fuel and clean trucks, tractors and other powered tools.
• Respond to winter weather with snow and ice removal.
• Cross-train in building repairs and airfield systems (plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, lighting, gates).
• Work outdoors in all types of weather and on a day shift with occasional evening shifts and weekend rotations.
