Job summary

Roanoke County is seeking a Park Maintenance Technician I or II to maintain parks, athletic fields, and facilities. The role is contingent on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Key duties include mowing, landscaping, equipment operation, minor repairs, event support, snow removal, and safety compliance. A high school diploma and a valid driver’s license are required; First Aid/CPR and forklift certification or ability to obtain within the first year are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience operating motorized equipment or grounds maintenance preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record; ability to obtain First Aid/CPR and forklift certification within first year.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance of parks, athletic fields, and amenities (mowing, trimming, debris removal, basic landscaping).
• Operates light-to-heavy equipment and tows trailers as needed for park operations.
• Uses hand and power tools for minor repairs and basic construction tasks.
• Conducts routine inspections and reports maintenance needs.
• Assists with site setup/breakdown and material transport.
• Supports snow removal operations and emergency response as Essential Personnel.
• Provides event setup and post-event cleanup support.
