Job summary

City of Chesapeake Virginia is seeking an Airfield and Facilities Maintenance Technician II to maintain airfield turf to spec and repair equipment and structures including electric bi-fold doors. Work is outdoors/indoors across the Chesapeake Regional Airport campus.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, ability to work independently, and a willingness to be on-call for weather emergencies. Shifts are Monday–Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with possible overtime and weather-related on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• One year of college in construction or maintenance trade, or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate turf tractors.
• Perform daily security checks and assessments.
• Maintain and repair electric bi-fold doors.
• Maintain current inventory of consumables.
• Problem solve independently and remain personable.
• Daily safety inspections of fuel facility.
• Occasionally climb ladders.
