Qualifications

  • Seven years of Maintenance/Production Control experience required.
  • Completion of F/A-18 Supervisor FAM C-600-3867 training course.

Responsibilities

  • Manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for aircraft.
  • Act as Shift Supervisor and ensure technical data is recorded accurately.

Job description

Job Opening: Aircraft Mechanic 3

Amentum is immediately hiring qualified Aircraft Mechanic 3’s to support U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations at NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA, VFA-106.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Knowledge of the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet aircraft and effective communication across various skillsets including Power Plants, Airframe/Hydraulic Systems, Avionics, ALSS, Electrical, Navigation Systems, Environmental Control Systems, Corrosion, and Line Division Operations.
  2. Releasing aircraft as Safe for Flight and managing all actions to maintain or restore materials to serviceability.
  3. Managing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in compliance with OPNAV 4790 guidelines, supporting daily flight schedules and remote detachments.
  4. Using aircraft-specific tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and others.
  5. Performing duties within established procedures, setting priorities for parts and repairs, and ensuring all work is documented accurately.
  6. Acting as Shift Supervisor, applying technical expertise to solve complex problems, interpreting schematics and manuals, and ensuring all technical data is correctly recorded.

Additional duties include:

  • Inspecting and maintaining company and customer assets, including PPE.
  • Participating in training and qualification of new personnel.
  • Promoting safety, quality, environmental compliance, and effective communication across departments and with customers.
  • Completing required training and maintaining documentation.

Security clearance and background checks are required. Shift work and detachments are possible. Candidates must meet physical and medical requirements, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pass medical examinations.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Navy Aviation Maintenance Control Management for OOMA.
  • Seven (7) years of Maintenance/Production Control experience, including three (3) years recent F/A-18 E/F/G O-level Safe for Flight experience.
  • Completion of specific training courses such as F/A-18 Supervisor FAM C-600-3867 and Naval Aviation QA Admin C-555-0046.
  • Valid Virginia or North Carolina driver’s license (if applicable).
  • Ability to interpret technical publications and manuals.
  • Secret Clearance eligibility and ability to obtain/maintain facility credentials.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Aircraft Weight and Balance E-516-0001.
