Job summary

Wabtec in Kansas City, MO is hiring an Airbrake Technician on a direct hire basis. The role pays $20.75 per hour and runs Monday-Thursday, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with overtime potential on Fridays and Saturdays.

You will inspect, assemble, package, and test air brake components, ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are met across a fast-paced operation. The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, enjoys using hand and power tools, and can maintain accuracy while working with detailed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety requirements.
• Ability to safely use hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble air brake components using hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
• Clean, wash, buff, and prepare components for remanufacturing.
• Inspect parts and identify defects, damage, or non-conforming conditions.
• Follow detailed work instructions, SOPs, routing documents, and safety procedures.
• Process materials according to production schedules and workflow requirements.
• Operate production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace following 5S standards.
• Rotate between workstations and support production flow as needed.
• Communicate production issues, material shortages, and safety concerns to leadership.
• Cross-train in multiple work areas to support operational flexibility.
• Follow all PPE requirements, safety policies, and plant procedures.
