Job summary

Atrium Health's MedCenter Air seeks a respiratory care professional to join the critical care transport team, delivering patient care during transport by ambulance, helicopter, or airplane. You will assess, stabilize, and intervene for ill or injured patients under Medical Control Physician supervision.

Responsibilities include data collection, clinical reasoning, delegation, safety, committee participation, and maintaining equipment and knowledge for transport modalities.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of respiratory care.
• Current RT license or temporary license is required.
• RRT certification preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 3 years clinical respiratory care in ED/ICU setting.
• Paramedic certification within 2 years of hire.
• Advanced critical care certifications (ACCS or equivalent) required/maintained.
• State/National registry EMT-P qualification maintained.

Responsibilities

• Collect data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
• Apply clinical reasoning and skills to assess and provide care during transport.
• Delegate care elements to appropriate healthcare workers.
• Use resources to plan safe, effective, and financially responsible services.
• Participate in committees or governance and facility decision making.
• Maintain knowledge for multiple transport modes including ambulances, helicopters, and airplanes.
• Initiate advanced procedures to improve patient outcomes as required.
• Provide airway management and ventilator support during transport.
• Transports and monitors patients requiring advanced circulatory or respiratory support.
