Job summary

Advocate Health, based in Charlotte, NC, seeks a Respiratory Therapist to join MedCenter Air transport. The role delivers advanced and basic life support, stabilizes ill or injured patients, and coordinates with Medical Control via radio or direct consultation.

You will collect data, perform clinical assessments, manage airways and ventilators, and support transport across ambulances, helicopters, and airplanes.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of respiratory care.
• Current RT license or temporary license as a registered petitioner in the working and residential state.
• RRT required; BSRT preferred.
• BLS required.
• Three years clinical respiratory care experience in the Emergency Department and/or Intensive Care Unit required.
• Paramedic Certification required within 2 years of hire.
• Must acquire NC EMT-P, SC EMT-P and National Registry; maintained throughout employment.
• Trauma Certification, ACLS, PALS, NRP and STABLE required upon orientation and maintained.
• Advanced certification to include ACCS or equivalent as approved required to maintain CAMTS standards.
• Aviation training required or flight status per FAA Part 135 regulations.

Responsibilities

• Collects data pertinent to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation.
• Uses clinical reasoning and skills to conduct accurate assessments and patient care interventions.
• Delegates elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers.
• Operates and manages airway support and ventilator equipment.
• Transports and monitors patients requiring advanced medical devices.
• Maintains safety and efficiency of MedCenter Air operations.
